Implications of Housing Market Boom - 2004-03-14
In a report issued by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) today, analysts believed that the recent boom in U.S. home prices and housing market activity does not necessarily suggest that prices are poised to systematically decline.

However, the report does cite the rising use of home equity lines of credit and adjustable-rate mortgages as factors that could make some homeowners more vulnerable to credit problems.

Surge in mortgage foreclosures jeopardize homeowners - 2004-03-14
Three days before National City Bank began the process of foreclosing on his Garfield home, Quinton Clifford Beasley, 53 and legally blind in one eye, walked into one of the bank's offices and handed the teller a note.

Foreclosure for not paying a mortgage is only one reason people lose their homes. Homes also are seized to pay off tax liens for property taxes, municipal liens for services such as garbage collection, and court judgments.
