Home Buyer Fair Is Made for First-Time Buyers - 2004-03-16
For Shareen Fiol, getting the right broker made the difference between paying a mortgage on her own home, or paying about the same amount in rent.

She says she owes it all to last year's Home Buyer Fair in Medford.

Fiol, 31, said as a recent recipient of an advanced college degree, she had less than a year of work history, and neither she nor her partner, Chris Vogel, had a lot of cash.

Fed maintains key rate at 46-year low of 1% - 2004-03-16
US Federal Reserve policymakers on Tuesday kept short-term interest rates at a 46-year low, determined to push economic activity and escape a three-year jobs rut.

But the labour market -- a battleground in the war for the White House between President George W. Bush and Democratic presumptive candidate John Kerry -- disappointed despite a housing boom helped by low mortgage rates.
