Mortgage rates mostly lower; ARM hits another record low - 2004-03-19
Mortgage rates mostly dropped again this week, with the benchmark 30-year mortgages approaching last year's rates, which were the lowest in more than four decades. Rates for one-year adjustable mortgages established a record low.

The average rate on 30-year, fixed-rate mortgages dipped to 5.38%, mortgage giant Freddie Mac reported Thursday in its weekly nationwide survey of mortgage rates.

Hawaii mortgage rates ddecreases to 5% or less - 2004-03-19
Two of the top five lenders in Hawaii are now posting 5 percent for a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage, and many of the smaller lenders are currently at that level or lower.

First Hawaiian Bank this week joined Central Pacific Bank in offering a flat 5 percent with 2 points, the Honolulu Board of Realtors reported. Bank of Hawaii, American Savings Bank and City Bank held at 5 1/8 percent.
