An increasing number of first-time home buyers are choosing condominiums as home.

Low mortgage-interest rates and high apartment rents make small, entry-level condos an attractive buy. But, today, "first-time" is not synonymous with low-priced. The first move into home ownership can easily mean the purchase of a condo in the $200,000 bracket, or more.

Foreclosure postings highest since 1980s in Tarrant County, Texas - 2004-03-19
The number of homes readied for foreclosure auctions in Tarrant County has reached its highest level since the real estate crash of the late 1980s, a report released Thursday shows.

Some people who lost their jobs in recent years have gotten behind on mortgage payments and other bills and now risk losing their homes, said George Roddy Sr., president of the listing service.
