Home improvement buffs take in latest trends - 2004-03-20
From gutters to geothermal systems, visitors of the Muncie Home Builders Association's Home, Garden, Patio and Remodeling Show checked out the latest trends in home improvement Saturday at the Horizon Convention Center.

Other show displays featured sunrooms, kitchen and bath accessories, sweepers, cabinets, gas fireplaces, fencing and mortgage companies. Educational programs and demonstrations were also part of the show.

Fence-sitters drive mortgage refinancing boom - 2004-03-20
The lowest mortgage rates since last summer are activating another round of refinancings this year.

But who's left to refinance a mortgage? Last year's fence-sitters, said D.C. Aiken, an economist at HomeBanc Mortgage in Atlanta. "People sat on the fence in June," he said. When rates went back up in the middle of that month, they never completed the refinancing process, he noted.
