Broker sentenced for mortgage fraud - 2004-03-26
A Pompano Beach woman has been sentenced for her involvement in what the government summarized as a mortgage fraud scheme in which a dozen Florida families lost their homes and equity.


Her sentence follows a conviction for grand theft on March 15. According to investigators with the state's Office of Financial Regulation, which said it helped the Broward County State Attorney's Office in the investigation.

Mortgage lending set to rise again - 2004-03-26
Mortgage lending looks likely to recover following a subdued month in February, figures showed yesterday.

The British Bankers' Association said just £13.55bn was advanced last month, the lowest figure since March 2003, although it added that February was usually the slowest month of the year and the fall was "largely expected".
