Wamu And Mortgage Giant Fannie Mae Boost Homeownership - 2004-03-03
You've seen that commercial where the Black family is looking at their new house and the parents are watching their children play in the backyard.

The commercial is a tearjerker. Many African Americans are crying because for them, the reality of homeownership has proven elusive. Many, however, are tired of renting and paying other people's mortgages and are looking to own in larger numbers.

Is Adjustable Rate Mortgage a better loan deal? - 2004-03-03
When my wife and I opted for an adjustable-rate mortgage over the fixed-rate variety 11 years ago, it was a gamble. How nice, then, to have our judgment confirmed by Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan.

In a speech Monday to the Credit Union National Association, Greenspan said a homeowner with an ARM for the past 10 years could have saved tens of thousands of dollars compared with the cost of a fixed mortgage.
