Fannie Mae Unveils New $4 Billion Affordable Housing Investment Strategy for Border Region - 2004-03-04
Daniel H. Mudd, Fannie Mae's vice chairman and chief operating officer, was teamed with El Paso Mayor Joe Wardy for an announcement of the company's $4 billion affordable housing investment strategy.

The American Dream Commitment® for the Border Region is a six-year strategy that will be implemented by Fannie Mae (FNM/NYSE), the nation's largest source of financing for home mortgages, with the collaborative help of the private, public and nonprofit sectors.

Building permits keep momentum - 2004-03-04
The momentum from last year's record level of building permits for housing has spread over into 2004, according to Statistics Canada.

StatsCan says low mortgage rates, employment strength and a high level of consumer confidence have contributed the housing boom.

"Municipalities issued almost $3 billion worth of building permits for housing in January, up 1.1% from the previous high in December.
