CVAG moves to close the mortgage gap - 2004-03-08
Gustavo Sandoval relocated to Indio right after graduating from the University of California, Riverside. He knew the Coachella Valley required teachers and heard the quality of life was good. He took a job as a science teacher at Desert Mirage High School in Thermal.

The 28-year-old Sandoval has been looking to buy a home and saving for a down payment for six years. "Basically, I’m tired of paying someone else’s mortgage," Sandoval said.

U.S. Representative William Lacy Clay today teamed up with Freddie Mac, Beyond Housing/Neighborhood Housing Services and the St. Louis Coalition to Promote Reputable Lending to unveil Don't Borrow Trouble Metro St. Louis.

Local housing officials say that such practices trigger thousands of mortgage delinquencies every year in the St. Louis metro area, especially among senior citizens and minority residents.
