Mortgage company expanding - 2004-04-02
Countrywide Financial Corp., one of the nation's largest residential mortgage lenders, unveiled Thursday it will start financing the purchase of commercial properties.

The new unit, Countrywide Commercial Real Estate Finance Inc., will be a subsidiary of the corporation's broker dealer business, Countrywide Capital Markets Inc., and be based at the corporate headquarters in Calabasas.
