The $100,000 from the second mortgage on Tom Kulick's Lakes of the Four Seasons home will peter out just as he graduates from Indiana University Northwest.

The 46-year-old father of four can tell you firsthand starting a second career isn't cheap. He can also tell you pounding the pavement for a job isn't fun.

He did that four years ago, embarking on a job search from South Bend to Chicago after losing his job of 14 years.

House named in memory of woman - 2004-04-03
Even though she tragically perished in a fire last weekend, Katherine Carl's brief legacy of aiding others will continue.

Like LUKE's house on Springmill Street, it will provide affordable housing and rented to a family with all proceeds, after the mortgage is paid off, given away in ministry. A work day will be scheduled shortly to rehabilitate the house.
