Sales ease, prices up - 2004-08-28
While Solano County homes are the most affordable in the Bay Area, buyers are avoiding these homes that are not in top-notch condition - even those in the low $300,000 price range.

The typical monthly mortgage payment that Bay Area buyers committed themselves to paying was $2,361 in July. In June it was $2,450 and a year ago it was $1,953.

Take offense to avert foreclosure - 2004-08-28
Donna Smalls, a counselor for The Housing Partnership, recalls how a client almost lost her home this year.

The client's work hours were cut, reducing her income. She fell four months behind on her mortgage payments. After unsuccessfully negotiating with her lender and receiving a foreclosure notice, the client, a first-time home buyer, sought help from the counseling agency.
