NFL Players Build Homes for Local Families - 2005-01-18
Former and retired NFL players geared up for the “Super Build” in Jacksonville on Tuesday. The players are teaming up with volunteers from Habijax to build new homes for local families in need. The goal: to build 39 new homes before the Super Bowl on February 6.

According to Super Build coordinator Judy Hall, all Habijax families must qualify for the home, commit 300 hours of work on the home themselves, and be able to put $500 down on a mortgage for the home.

Builders defend mortgage giants Fannie, Freddie - 2005-01-18
The National Association of Home Builders said it would fight attempts to undermine U.S. government support of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, according to a published report Monday.

During an NAHB convention in Florida, members of the industry group passed a resolution to fight any steps aimed at ratcheting back the government's "implied guarantee" of the two mortgage companies' $1.7 trillion in debt, the Wall Street Journal reported.
