Third home is the charm for some buyers - 2005-01-30
Jay Lieberman, a dentist who lives outside Washington, D.C., also owns a home situated on the slopes of Park City, Utah, which he uses as a ski getaway for his family. Late last year, Lieberman decided to snap up a third home as well.

Second-homeownership has surged significantly in the past decade, thanks in large part to record-low interest rates on mortgages and the rapid appreciation of real-estate prices.

Could bubble housing markets go bust this year? - 2005-01-30
Are home prices excessively exuberant? If you own a house in any of the three dozen metropolitan areas where appreciation rates exceeded 20 percent in the past 12 months, you might think so.

In Miami, where the housing price appreciation rate last year was 23.6 percent, 11.3 percent of acquisition mortgages went to investors. In Los Angeles, 10.4 percent of new loans went to investors, while housing prices soared by 30.5 percent.
