Housing market to 'stay flat' - 2005-02-10
Britannia, the building society, warned yesterday of stagnation in the housing market during the next two years.

Neville Richardson, chief executive, said house-price inflation over the past three to four years was unsustainable: "We expect to see a soft landing in the housing market, with a period of low or no growth in house prices."

U.S. economy seen growing 3.6 percent in 2005 - 2005-02-10
Economists are sticking to their guns that the U.S. economy will turn in growth this year matching its long-term trend rate.

Also, the Commerce Department said Thursday the U.S. trade deficit decreased in December as a sharp drop in oil prices cut the nation's energy bill.

And, the U.S. Labor Department said Thursday new claims for state unemployment benefits fell to their lowest level in more than four years last week.
