For Mary Durickas, long-term financial planning usually takes a back seat to paying the mortgage and worrying about day-to-day expenses.

The Newton resident came to Framingham State College yesterday to concentrate on the bigger financial picture. She and more than 200 other women attended the Money Conference for Women, presented by state Treasurer Timothy Cahill and the YWCA.
