Immigration good for US economy - Greenspan - 2005-02-17
Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan declared on Thursday he supports increased immigration because it is good for the United States, not simply because it could help the Social Security trust fund.

"I think that immigration has been vital to the success of this country and I fully support it," Greenspan said in response to a question from the House of Representatives Financial Services Committee.

Consumers keeping US economy going strong - 2005-02-17
Fed chairman Alan Greenspan said yesterday that consumer spending is still supporting the US economy at a brisk pace - but watch out for the potential speed bumps of housing and a weak dollar.

"The economy seems to have entered 2005 expanding at a reasonably good pace," Greenspan told the Senate Banking Committee.
