Internet helps mortgage hunters find better deals - 2005-02-06
More and more Canadians are tapping the Internet to research their mortgages, according to a survey by the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation.

Internet use for mortgage information hit 48 per cent among purchasers in 2004, up from 26 per cent in 1999. First-time buyers show the highest use, at 51 per cent.

Short-term interest rate hike has winners, losers - 2005-02-06
Tuesday's jump in short-term interest rates, the sixth such increase since last June, will affect some people more than others and at different times. Generally speaking, those who save money will be tomorrow's winners while those who owe money to others will be counted among the losers.

If you have an adjustable-rate mortgage, or ARM, that adjusts monthly or every six or 12 months, the rate almost certainly will rise when the adjustment period arrives.
