Eron Mortgage president sentenced to 6 years in prison - 2005-03-29
The former president of Eron Mortgage Corp. was given a six-year prison term on Tuesday in a fraud case called the largest in British Columbia history.

Brian Slobogian, 56, entered a surprising guilty plea in January to one count of fraud and four counts of theft. The maximum sentence Justice Peter Fraser of the B.C. Supreme Court could have given Slobogian was 10 years in prison.

Mortgage foreclosures triple over last 5 years - 2005-03-29
Beaver County mortgage foreclosures have tripled over the past five years and are on pace to go beyond the darkest years of the Great Depression.

The situation is even worse in Allegheny County, where they have surged more than tenfold since 2000. The numbers mirror a growing trend across Pennsylvania, which ranks among the worst states in the nation for mortgage foreclosures.
