Southern, Calif. home mortgage payments rise in May - 2005-06-16
Monthly mortgage payments across Southern California continued to climb in May but were about 5 percent below their 1989 peak after adjusting for inflation, suggesting the region's housing market likely will stay hot this summer, analysts said Wednesday.

The typical monthly mortgage payment for Southern California home buyers in May bumped up to $2,028 from $2,019 in April and $1,884 a year earlier.

Mortgage broker guilty in identity theft case - 2005-06-16
A Kirkland mortgage broker admitted Tuesday that she committed identity theft, then attempted to have a witness in that case assaulted to keep him from testifying.

Elizabeth Coan, 45, admitted guilt to solicitation to commit second-degree assault, to seven counts of forgery and to one count each of first-degree theft and first-degree identity theft, according to prosecutors.
