CitiMortgage targets affordable housing - 2005-08-15
To help alleviate Florida's workforce housing crisis, CitiMortgage has pledged $150 million statewide - an effort deemed by some South Floridians to be a first step toward solving a crucial, unaddressed issue.

Investors, who often push up the price of real estate, need not apply for CitiMortgage's "Florida Keys to Home" funds. Despite low mortgage rates, many cannot find enough financing. Or, if qualified, like the families in Miami-Dade County, inexpensive housing is rare.

Economist Sees Some Bumps Ahead on Hot Housing Road - 2005-08-15
The surging housing market is roaring toward another record-setting year, and only an unexpected roadblock of monumental size will slow its pace, according to the chief economist for the Mortgage Bankers Association.

Douglas Duncan painted a positive picture of the housing market in a recent interview, but addressed concerns about possible problems ahead, including the housing price "bubble," dangers of interest-only loans, increased mortgage delinquencies and how to handle predatory lending.
