Expect to see continued interest rate increases - 2005-08-15
How rapidly things can change. Seven weeks ago, before the June 30 announcement of the Fed's ninth interest rate hike, the consensus was that the Fed was working up to the end, or at least a break, in interest rate hikes.

Now the consensus is quite different, with market observers expecting three more quarter-point interest rate hikes by year-end. And talk of more rate hikes in 2006 is also being heard.

Single family housing sales dip as more buyers turn to condos - 2005-08-15
Less people were purchasing single family homes in Massachusetts in the second quarter of 2005, but a lot more people were buying condominiums.

In fact, the Massachusetts Association of Realtors stated that condo sales established a quarterly record in the April-June period, rising by more than 17% from the same time a year ago.
