Energy prices seen slowing U.S. economy - 2006-01-24
Energy prices are already having an affect on the U.S. economy and will contribute to slower U.S. growth in 2006. One recent survey forecasted that U.S. growth in 2005 was 3.6 percent. The initial report on fourth-quarter gross domestic product is due on Friday and is expected to show a drop from the 4.1 percent rate in the third quarter.

Developing nations expected to drive global economy - 2006-01-24
The U.S. economy will still be the main engine of global economic growth, but healthy growth of China, India and a few other large developing economies is becoming increasingly important, a newly released UN annual report declared Tuesday. Economic growth abated in most of the developed economies during 2005, with no recovery expected in 2006.
