Direct Mortgage sold - 2006-01-25
Direct Mortgage Service Inc., a mortgage brokerage company that has an office in Bradenton, was bought by Portsmouth, N.H.-based Direct Capital Corp. on Jan. 3. DMS will run as a fully owned subsidiary under the same management team. The acquisition will boost the financial product offerings and services of Direct Capital including new home loans, second mortgages, home equity loans and other products.

Local housing market continues to cool - 2006-01-25
The region's housing market continued to abate in December, a month when the number of sales decreased statewide and Palm Beach County's typical home price fell. The median price for an existing home in Palm Beach County was $408,200, 20 percent higher from a year ago but down from October and November. Nationally, home sales slowed and prices decreased to a six-month low, according to the National Association of Realtors.
