Mortgage group warns on risky refinance mortgage ads - 2006-01-27
As more alternative mortgages become popular, a real estate trade group is warning that an increasing number of advertisements for such home or refinance mortgage loans are misleading consumers about their true costs. The California Association of Mortgage Brokers released the alert about the home loan ads. It noticed an increase in flyers and faxes promoting the products as a means to pay off holiday debt.

U.S. economy grows at slowest pace in 3 years - 2006-01-27
The economy expanded at only a 1.1 percent annual rate during the fourth quarter of last year. This is the slowest pace in three years due in part to belt-tightening by consumers dealing with spiraling energy costs. Despite the weak showing from October through December, the economy registered decent overall growth of 3.5 percent for all of 2005.
