$657 billion injected in China's real estate - 2006-01-30
Investment in China's real estate sector climbed to an estimated $657.6 billion during the 10th five-year plan period, contributing 4.5 per cent to the GDP. The acquisition of private housing had accounted for 93.2 per cent of the total dealings, with Chinese residents spending 968 billion Yuan that year, about double that of the year 2000.

U.S. Economy: Spending Rises By Most in Five Months - 2006-01-30
U.S. personal spending climbed in December by the most in five months, evidence of higher demand that may energize the economy this quarter. With higher incomes, auto sales rebounding and cash from holiday gift cards still being spent, consumer spending will accelerate from its slowest pace in four years, economists declared.
