Manhattan real estate hits wall - 2006-01-04
Manhattan real estate may have peaked. The latter half of 2005 saw home prices cool off, based on two new reports from Manhattan brokers. The median sale price for co-ops and condos in Manhattan climbed just 1.3 percent in the fourth quarter of 2005, to $760,000. A two-bedroom apartment currently costs a median average of about $1.2 million in Manhattan.

Fed sees stable U.S. economy - 2006-01-04
Federal Reserve policymakers differed last month on how much more interest rates would need to climb to keep the economy and inflation on balance. For those that expected the two-year rate-hike campaign to be coming to an end probably wasn't far off.
