Low interest rates and competing home loan offers have caused a real estate boom. For many first time homebuyers, they do not know where to start with financing a home. For the buyer with an approval letter from a mortgage company that says they're good for the financing, it puts them in a position to negotiate better terms with the seller.

U.S. economy starts strong - 2006-01-05
The services sector in the U.S. expanded more quickly in December. At the same time, the number of workers filing new claims for jobless benefits dropped to the lowest level in five years. There is evidence that the U.S. economy is entering the new year on a fairly strong note. The Institute for Supply Management declared Thursday its index of nonmanufacturing activity increased to 59.8 last month from 58.5 in November.
