Mortgage Protection: Don't Get Fleeced! - 2006-02-21
When you signed up for a mortgage, did your lender try and persuade you to take out Mortgage Payment Protection Insurance (MPPI)? And did you take it? MPPI is essentially accident, sickness and unemployment insurance which is specifically designed to meet the mortgage payments. According to British Insurance, purchasing MPPI through your mortgage lender can cost almost a third more than buying direct from a specialist insurance broker.

US economy expanding at a 'solid pace': Fed minutes - 2006-02-21
Federal Reserve governors agreed last month that the US economy was growing at a "solid pace", according to the minutes of their January 31 meeting which also hinted more interest rate hikes could lie ahead. The minutes of the meeting of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC), released Tuesday, show the board voted unanimously to hike the benchmark federal funds rate by a quarter point to 4.5 percent.
