Existing-Home Sales Slow in December - 2006-02-23
Home resales in the United States dropped 5.7% in December to the lowest level since March 2004 as the market slowed on the back of less robust Midwest economies and the loss of investors, a trade group declared Wednesday. However for the year, 7.1 million existing homes were sold, making 2005 the fifth record year in a row, the National Assn. of Realtors revealed.

U.S. Economy: Jobless Claims Unexpectedly Fell - 2006-02-23
First-time claims for unemployment benefits unexpectedly dropped last week and the total number of Americans recieving jobless benefits remained close to a five- year low, signs the labor market is gathering strength as the economy accelerates. Initial jobless claims was lower by 20,000 last week to 278,000, the Labor Department said today in Washington.
