TD predicts U.S. economy will cool in 2006 - 2006-03-22
The U.S. economy is likely going into a slowdown later in the year that will affect Canada, economists at TD Bank said Wednesday. In a quarterly forecast, TD economists predict that U.S. economic expansion is expected to slow to an average annual rate of 2.3 per cent in the last half of 2006 and the first half of 2007. It is close to one percentage point below the U.S. economy's long-term potential pace.

US mortgage rates unchanged Wednesday - 2006-03-22
The average rate on a 30-year U.S. mortgage with no upfront points was the same on Wednesday at 6-1/2 percent, according to BestInfo Inc. If the mortgage market on Thursday maintains its present direction, rates may decline. The 30-year mortgage rate with one upfront point was the same at 6-1/4 percent.
