10 charged in Southwest Florida mortgage scam - 2006-03-27
The state attorney's office declared this morning that 10 people are facing felony charges after a two-year investigation into a mortgage scam. In a media release the office reports that investigaors worked along with the Florida Department of Agriculture, the Florida Office of Financial Regulation and the Cape Coral Police Department to bring the formal charges.

Experts ratchet up their interest rate expectations - 2006-03-27
As Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke readies to lead his first interest rate meeting today, more private economists are boosting their outlook for rate increases this year. While investors are betting the Fed will elevate interest rates one more time after this week, more economists now expect the Fed will be hiking rates well into the summer. Such action is required to control inflation in an economy that is expanding faster than expected.
