U.S. Economy: Factory orders drop less than forecast - 2006-03-07
Orders placed with U.S. factories dropped less than forecast in January as demand increased for industrial equipment. Orders dropped 4.5 percent, the largest decrease since July 2000, reflecting less demand for Boeing Co.-made aircraft, according to a report from the Commerce Department in Washington. With transportation excluded, orders rose 1.6 percent.
