Policymakers and bond market investors alike seem more confident about the health of the broad US economy in 2007, with its still-thriving service sector, robust market and improving exports. However, there remains great uncertainty as to what will happen to the housing market, and what effect, if any, the housing correction may yet have on consumer spending and growth.

Housing Still Not Bottomed Yet - 2007-01-15
2006 was marked by a nation-wide housing slump. Sales were lower, and the Y-o-Y price comparison followed after. A weak housing sector is painful to many sectors of the economy: the homebuilders, the realtors, the construction workers, the homeowners who used the limit of their home equity line of credit. The greatest hit among them in 2006 were likely the home builders.
