US economy forecaster optimistic - 2007-01-16
Sohn Seong-won, a 62-year-old president of Hanmi Bank’s Los Angeles branch, is also recognized as “the accurate economic forecaster.” He was highlighted as the most accurate forecaster of the U.S. economy in 2001 by Bloomberg News and last year by the Wall Street Journal. An advisor for the WSJ and the Business Week in making U.S. economy forecasts, he recently had a telephone interview with the Dong-A Ilbo. He indicated optimism regarding the U.S. economy.

Mortgage Rate Probability: Sideways to Higher - 2007-01-16
Last week, rates nudged up higher due to several unexpected reports and one major surprising news. Last week's increase in rates centered primarily around three events. The most significant was Retail Sales, which posted the best number yet year over year once you factored out vehicle purchases. Add to that the Mortgage Application index which displayed the biggest percentage increases in home loan applications for purchasing and refinancing since the middle of 2005.
