Slowing economy to reduce refinance mortgage originations - 2007-01-09
Higher interest rates and a less robust economy are expected to lower mortgage originations in 2007, the Mortgage Bankers Association of America declared Monday. The Washington, D.C.-based trade group said it expects the total value of new mortgages and refinance mortgage loans to decrease 5 percent this year to $2.39 trillion from $2.51 trillion in 2006.

New bill targets appraisal, mortgage fraud - 2007-01-09
Attorney General John Suthers on Monday introduced proposed legislation targeting appraisal and mortgage fraud that is feeding record foreclosures in the state.
Last year, a record 19,425 real estate foreclosures were filed in the seven-county Denver area, although the foreclosure rate was worse when the last record was set in 1988.
