5 sentenced in mortgage flipping case - 2007-02-01
Three people who pleaded guilty to federal wire fraud charges involved in a mortgage flipping scheme received probation, while two others who pleaded to the same charges were accorded jail time during sentencing hearings today in U.S. District Court in Hattiesburg.

U.S. Economy: Spending Rises, Manufacturing Contracts - 2007-02-01
Consumer spending within the U.S. climbed in December by the most in five months, enabling the U.S. economy weather a slowdown in manufacturing that persisted into 2007. Purchases went up 0.7 percent after a 0.5 percent increase in November, the Commerce Department declared today in Washington.
