Housing Construction Expected to Decline - 2007-02-15
Investors are looking for new indications on the direction of the housing market as the Commerce Department gets set to report January data on construction and building permits. A slew of weak earnings reports from some of the biggest builders has rekindled concerns the sector's worst days are yet to come, helping to pull housing indices lower since the start of this month.

Housing sales drop in 40 states - 2007-02-15
The slowdown in housing deepened in the final three months of last year with sales dropping in 40 states and median home prices decreasing in almost half the metropolitan areas surveyed. Formerly red-hot areas were among the most severly hit as the five-year housing boom cooled considerably in 2006. While some economists said they believed the worst may have passed for housing, others predicted more price drops to come until near-record levels of unsold homes are reduced.
