U.S. Economy: Job Growth Slows, Jobless Rate Rises - 2007-02-02 Employers in the U.S. hired fewer workers than forecasted last month and the jobless rate went up, evidence of an economy expanding at a moderate pace predicted by the Federal Reserve. The 111,000 jobs increase followed a 206,000 rise in December that was larger than previously estimated, the Labor Department reported today in Washington.
