REAL ESTATE: Former boom areas have sales slump - 2007-02-20
The slump in housing intensified in the last three months of last year, with sales falling in 40 states and median home prices dropping in almost half of the metropolitan areas surveyed, a real estate trade group reported last week. The National Association of Realtors report showed that the biggest drops were in former boom areas. The biggest percentage decline happened in Nevada.

Canadians a cautious bunch at mortgage time: poll - 2007-02-20
Canadians take a careful approach to mortgage debt, with most wanting to pay off their mortgage as soon as possible, a federal housing agency survey suggests.
Three-quarters said their goal is to pay off their mortgage as fast as possible, with half saying that, whenever possible, they would use extra money to pay down their mortgage, Canada Mortgage and Housing Corp. said in releasing the results Tuesday of its annual survey of the attitudes of people obtaining, renewing, or refinancing a mortgage.
