Mortgage Lenders files for bankruptcy - 2007-02-06
A Connecticut-based mortgage company that had been aggressively growing all over the country just months ago is seeking bankruptcy court permission to liquidate.
Mortgage Lenders Network USA Inc. filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy protection Monday in Delaware. In papers filed with the court Tuesday, the company is asking the court to allow it to reject leases and contracts as well as permission to sell machinery and office equipment, according to a Reuters report.

US economy solid, inflation too high - 2007-02-06
Most of the U.S. economy, aside from the housing and auto sectors, is "on very solid turf," San Francisco Federal Reserve President Janet Yellen declared on Tuesday. Yellen reiterated the optimistic tone of her recent speeches while answering questions from the audience after a speech on Asian financial market reforms to the Asian Society of Southern California.
