U.S. Economy: Productivity Jumps, Cost of Labor - 2007-02-07
U.S. worker productivity expanded at the fastest rate in close to a year last quarter and labor costs increased at a slower pace, indicating that wages may pose less of an inflation threat. The 3 percent gain in productivity, a measure of how much an employee produces for each hour of work, followed a revised 0.1 percent decline in the third quarter, the Labor Department declared today in Washington.
